David Trent has been the Salem Township Clerk since 2004. He is honored to have the opp
ortunity to serve the citizens of Salem.
Shortly after taking office David developed a new precinct with revised precinct boundaries so citizens could vote closer to their homes. As clerk he has been a responsible keeper of the records and has consistently balanced the financial audit for Salem Township.
His leadership includes Chair, Washtenaw County Municipal & Township Clerks Association and Co-Chair, Salem Facilities Committee. His office is always looking for more effective ways to make his office run efficiently. David has worked collaborately with the state to incorporate additional technology into the voting process.
The Clerk's office is responsible for elections which are held four times a year: February, May, August and November.
He comes to Salem with 30 years of quality assurance expertise working for General Motors and as a consultant. David is also a Certified Quality Engineer and a Certified Quality Auditor. He was the past Treasurer, Washtenaw County Chapter – Michigan Townships Associations 2005-07.
He and his wife are dutiful servants of Crosspoint Community Church. David and Cindy have been married for 33 years and have lived in Salem Township for 11 years.
He believes that his office serves at the will of the citizens of Salem Township.
Deputy Clerk Kim Taggart
Kim took the position in April 2011. She is a resident of Lyon Township where she resides with her husband and two children whom attend school in the South Lyon District. She has a Bachelors of Science and Business Administration in Accounting and has worked in this field for the past twenty years.
